What is massage?
Massage is the manipulation of superficial layers of muscle and connective tissue to promote relaxation and well-being. Massage therapy improves functioning of the circulatory, lymphatic, muscular, skeletal, and nervous systems. Massage involves manipulating the body with pressure, causing movement of the soft tissue. The basic goal of massage therapy is to help the body heal itself and to increase health and well being.
Swedish Massage
Designed to relax muscles by applying firm but gentle pressure that increases oxygen levels in the blood. It improves circulation, eases muscle tension, and calms the nervous system. Swedish massage is essentially the same as a relaxation massage that uses smooth gliding strokes.
Cost:
- 30 minutes - $35
- 60 minutes - $65
- 90 minutes - $95
Deep Tissue Massage
Focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It breaks down adhesions, releases chronic muscle tension, and restores normal movement. Deep tissue massage uses many of the same techniques as Swedish massage but the pressure will generally be more intense. Unlike Swedish massage which is used for relaxation, deep tissue usually focuses on specific problems such as: chronic pain, postural problems, limited mobility, fibromyalgia, muscle tension, osteoarthritis.
Cost:
- 30 minutes - $45
- 60 minutes - $75
- 90 minutes - $105
Migraine Massage
A non-invasive way to manage pain caused from neck, head and shoulder tension. Gentle soothing techniques can significantly reduce pain. More vigorous and deep techniques can be applied to address restrictions in range of motion, muscle spasm, tight areas, and trigger points. Stretching techniques, especially of the neck and shoulders, can increase range of motion and decrease muscle contractions.
Cost:
- 30 minutes - $40
Hand and Foot Massage
Helps reduce stress and assists in relaxation for better health. The feet have over 70,000 nerve endings with pressure points that correlate to the whole body. The techniques used have the ability to relieve the body from stiffness and pain caused by intense use of the muscles for long periods.
Cost:
- 30 minutes - $40
Prenatal Massage
Therapeutic bodywork which focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be as her body experiences dramatic change. It relieves muscle spasms, improves circulation and relaxation, and relieves mental and physical fatigue. Studies indicate that massage during pregnancy can reduce stress and anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches, and improve labor and newborn health.
Cost:
- 30 minutes - $35
- 60 minutes - $65
Ear candling
A natural procedure that may alleviate the painful effects of chronic headaches, ear infections, allergies, as well as minor hearing loss due to excessive earwax buildup. When lit, the candle creates a vacuum which pulls wax, toxins, and other foreign material out of the ear canal.
Cost: $35
